Amazing Affiliate Marketing Strategy

As many of you know from the link on the bottom right of this blog, I recently joined SeoBook affiliate program. Great book by the way. 🙂 Ok, I joined so what? Well during the signup process I noticed a very powerful Affiliate Marketing Strategy which was so powerful, I just had to tell you about it.

During the signup process, I noticed that JUST FOR SIGNING up into the affiliate program, he gave me $20 as a SIGNUP BONUS. Hmmmm.

I thought about this for a while after I signed up.

Let’s say you sell a $97 product and you pay out lets say 50% so roughly you payout $50 for every sale. Well on the first sale from this affiliate, you would pay them $70. Would this motivate affiliates to get the first sale? I don’t know, but I believe its worth a very serious look at testing it.

Just imagine the the marketing you can use… I’ll Give you $20 Just To Signup For My Affiliate Program!!!

Doesn’t that sound great?

Signup bonus is really a good marketing strategy to recruit new affiliates. I definately love to signup this type of programs

Phil was one of the all time greats. He was generous, kind, a great marketer and an inspiration to many that knew him. Armand – you’re right, Phil will be missed and his memory will hopefully make us all a little better as people.

    Hey Armand,

That’s an interesting idea. It always helps to have some sort of reward system in place that differentiates you from the market.

A “first sale” bonus along with the typical “100 sale” bonuses that we see would definitely make for a stronger affiliate program.

I am definitely going to try something similar out!

Heck, why not just go for $50 then?

It’s no money out of your pocket and gives
the affiliate even more of a boost!

Truth is, I’d pay somebody then entire commision
a million times over if they kept bringing me some
proven buyers that I can just sell more stuff to.

I got no problem sharing the love (and moolah).

    Great idea!

    Thanks for sharing.

This on the surface sounds like a great idea, however this is one danger I see.

We are all familiar with the technique of signing up for the affiliate program to get a discount on your own copy (ie you will never sell it)

With an open affiliate program you potentially provide an incentive to this kind of abuse.

So I would protect myself from this my only allowing it for a “closed” program – unless anybody has any other ideas?

Armand, I totally agree with you. This a great marketing idea. The way that it works in practice is that you do not get a check unless you have sold two books so there is more of a reason to get involved in selling the book as part of a campaign then just to sell one copy and pocket the extra $20. I really like the strategy a lot.

I have done a review of the book for anyone interested and the link to the review is in my name on this comment. Hope lots of people listedn to what Aaron says as this book seems to be right on the money as far as SEO goes

The marketing great, Marlon Sanders, does something like this with his affiliate program too… he offers $100 extra once you hit your 5th sale.

Good idea Armand. Should work, as well as other incentives to join too. Give a course away or special video with real value in it.

It was great to see you in Sydney!
