TechCrunch just posted news that Amazon just bought Zappos.com for 10 million Amazon shares or $880 million. I find it a very interesting and a smart move my Amazon to purchase Zappos. With the rising of Zappos brand and it’s innovative “customer first” policy, it’s really a no brainer. Zappos keeps running under a wholly owned susidiary of Amazon and Amazon gets a great new brand.

This morning I woke up to find an interesting article on TechCrunch about how Amazon and Google plan on jumping into the sales and distribution of eBooks. Amazon has been doing this for years, but they are now going to be offering books through their own reader while Google plans to start charging users to view full text books they’ve indexed from the Google Book Search Library. Amazon & Google To Enter eBook Business

The New York Times is reporting that both Amazon and Google are entering the eBook business this year, joining Sony and others who already have products (the image to the right is Sony’s Reader).The new Amazon product and service will be called The Kindle and will compete directly with Sony. Google will begin charging users to read the full text of some of the books they have indexed.
