I spoke in Australia a few years ago at Simon Chen’s X10 Seminar. Simon has posted one of my presentations there on Google Video. Here it is in it’s entirety. It’s 1 Hour and 16 Minutes long so go to the bathroom first and grab a drink.

I learned a little trick today if you are a FireFox user, then this will save a bunch of time. You see, I’m one of those people who constantly checks their stats. I learned this little Start Page trick for FireFox which saves me a boatload of time. I’m sure you’ll love it.
Here it is… You can set MULTIPLE start pages in FireFox.
Let’s say you want Google, Yahoo Mail, Gmail and your shopping cart stats to open in multiple tabs each time you click on the “home” button in your browser.
Here’s how you do it…
Click on Tools the Option in FireFox. You’ll see this screen.

In the “Home Page” field you would put the URLs you want to open in NEW tabs when you click on “Home”.
ie.) http://www.google.com/|http://www.firefox.com
The key is the pipe between the two URLs. This is the key when you shift on the backspace key.
Enter the full URLs with the pipe in between each URL and then click “OK”.
Your done.
Hope this helps.

I finally fixed a very annoying problem I’ve had since upgrading to FireFox 1.5. Since I’m using 2.0 now, this problem has been going on for quite sometime. The problem was that every time I went to webpage with a popup window via a link, the popup size was never correct. It was usually too small. In fact, most of the info on the popup couldn’t be read. Needless to say it was a pain in my butt… I finally found a fix!!! Yeah… Here it is.
In FireFox… Click on Tools, Options, Content Tab and In your Advanced JavaScript Settings, make sure this is UNCHECKED… Move or Resize existing Windows. That’s what did it for me! Hope this helps.

Unless you’ve been hiding underneath a rock for the last few years, you can’t turn around without reading or seeing something Google. Looking at their model business today and taking into consideration what they have available to them and what they have either bought or created, a Google Social Network is the next logical step. Read on to see why.
Ok, you’ve have Google Video, Gmail, Google Pages, Google Groups and a wide variety of other services. Essentially every aspect of a social network except the network itself.
Sure you could argue that Orkut is Google’s Social Network, which by the way is huge in other countries but for some reason hasn’t taken off in the US.
It’s Orkut NOT Google.
The power of Google is in the name itself.
With all of these great services what is lacking is the cohesiveness of combining all the services into one area.
Most importantly… allowing its customers to search out one another and interact. To me this would be the ultimate piece of the puzzle. It would be the BIG MYSPACE KILLER.
If they did put the Google name behind a Social Network, I would have to ask myself is it Tactical, Practical and Long Term?
In order to implement any new strategies into a business you need all three ingredients. Tactical, Practical, and Long Term.
My personal opinion is YES it does meet all 3. It would definitely seal their place in history and NO ONE would be able to catch them no matter what.
If Microsoft is reading… this would be the key to play catchup. Again Microsoft releases a Social Network, but they don’t but the NAME behind it. Branding is everything. Google has done it great, and is poised to really take advantage of this strategy.
What are your thoughts on this?
Let me know.

Four seconds is the maximum length of time an average online shopper will wait for a Web page to load before potentially abandoning a retail site. This is one of several key findings revealed in a report made available today by Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), commissioned through JupiterResearch, that examines consumer reaction to a poor online shopping experience.
Here’s an excerpt from the report:
“Based on the feedback of 1,058 online shoppers that were surveyed during the first half of 2006, JupiterResearch offers the following analysis:
- The consequences for an online retailer whose site underperforms include diminished goodwill, negative brand perception, and, most important, significant loss in overall sales.
- Online shopper loyalty is contingent upon quick page loading, especially for high-spending shoppers and those with greater tenure.
- JupiterResearch recommends that retailers make every effort to keep page rendering to no longer than four seconds.
Additional findings in the report show that more than one-third of shoppers with a poor experience abandoned the site entirely, while 75 percent were likely not to shop on that site again. These results demonstrate that a poorly performing website can be damaging to a company’s reputation; according to the survey, nearly 30 percent of dissatisfied customers will either develop a negative perception of the company or tell their friends and family about the experience. “

Google Alerts gives me a great way to stay notified if someone is posting information online about me, one of my products or one of my seminars. My advice to you is to use it, it saves a lot of time. To get to my point… I ran across a great post from someone who just went to my BigSeminar for the first time. He’s excited, but you have to read it yourself to see why.
Ken Chandler is his name and what I remember about Ken is that he actually just lives a few hours away from me here in North Carolina, even more interesting is that he used to work with my brother in-law.
Well, Ken’s wife came to BigSeminar last year and she brought Ken back with her this time.
He’s new and I believe this is his first blog, so check it out. Give him some support.

P.S. - Great review too… although I’m biased!
